Hello, and thank you for visiting the Traina family’s Sandy relief page.
I have created this site to help my parents, Dominic and Sheila Traina, long time residents of the New Dorp Beach community in Staten Island, New York.
Hurricane Sandy took away their home, along with other properties that have been in my family for generations, which now provided rental income for my parents, both in their 60′s.
Please give a few minutes of your time to read OUR STORY…I hope it will give you a glimpse of the hard working, caring family that I have been so very privileged to be a part of. You can also look at some PHOTOS we took of the remains, and the PRESS we were so lucky to receive.
If you’d like to contribute to the fund I have set up, please click here: DONATE
You can also mail a check or money order to:
Sheila & Dominic Traina c/o Jodi Traina
2364 Bryant Avenue
Scotch Plains, New Jersey 07076
All donations will be saved in an account and used toward rebuilding their new home.
Anything you could give would be whole heartedly appreciated.
Thank you for your time and contribution…
Juliann Traina

We have known your dad for over 30 years. Way back when when we way buying my first house just starting out with two babies him and I were hanging out talking . We were talking about it and he said to me how he knew getting started was tough and offered out of the blue to help me if I needed. I never forgot that and that’s the guy he is and we won’t forget him now.
Chuck and Dee
Thank you so much for keeping my parents in your thoughts…they’ve always been willing to lend a helping hand, and I can see that their friends are the same type of good people
Hi Juliann – Your story was etched into my heart the moment I started reading it and looking thru the pictures. Words can’t express how sorry we are for this tragic loss! You can only be thankful that everyone is safe and remember, this is most important. My niece’s birthday is approaching and she told us that she has everything she needs and feels truly blessed. In leiu of gifts, she’s asked us to make a donation in her name to one of our favority charities. We were getting ready to do this, until I saw your photos. I called my sisters (Paula and Claudia) and we all decided that we would like to make a contribution to your parents and will be sending a check for $300. Please know that your fmaily will remain in our prayers. Much love, Lesa & Al, Claudia & Tommy, and Paula & Todd…..God Bless
Lesa, bless you and your family for such a generous gift! I apologize for the late reply – our eternal thanks for your help

GET A LAWYER, and NAIL these idiots!!!
Thanks so much for your concern Teri…hopefully Allstate will come around and do the right thing for my parents.
My heart goes out to your family. I’ve made a small donation to your fund as one of my #26Acts – random acts of kindness in response to the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary. So much heartbreak in the world these days, and we have only each other to count on to make things better! Hopefully other Today Show viewers who saw your story today will be inspired to help, as well.
Thanks so much for your kind words and donation, Leah. In trying times like these, the best parts of humanity seem to always shine through
